Michael Lockyer
Senior MSK Physiotherapist
I grew up in Pretoria and completed my BSc Sport Science degree at Stellenbosch University and my Masters at Katholieke Universiteit Leuven in Belgium. Gaining valuable knowledge in terms of working with individuals with movement difficulties so that they too could participate in physical activity.
I then studied Physiotherapy at the University of Stellenbosch graduating in 2017 and worked at Khayelitsha District Hospital where I gain valuable knowledge across various clinical settings.

I enjoy sport related injuries, post-operative rehabilitation and I have previously worked in an ICU setting. I have completed the Orthopaedic Manual Therapy (OMT) course among many other courses in order to further develop my therapist skills and treat my patients even more effectively.

I find that it is important to build trust with my patients as this wins half the recovery process whether it be pain relief or post-operative rehabilitation. Communication and honesty is key when it comes to effective treatment. I also seek to educate and empower my patients to understand and manage their pain and recovery process.
